Quang Hong Luu is a gifted young pianist of his generation in Vietnam and Australia with “high level of pianistic professionalism” with “a great musical creativity and remarkable stage presence”. (Master concert pianist Dang Thai Son – 1st prize of the 1980 Chopin international piano competition in Warsaw.)
He completed his early training at the Vietnam national academy of music with Professor Thu Ha Tran , then went on to do a bachelor of music with full scholarship at the academy of music and performing arts of Australia with Professor Kyunghee Lee. After that he finished his master at the university of Montreal under the guidance of the master pianist Dang Thai Son . He also takes master classes with world renowned pianists and teachers: Boris Berezhovsky , Robert Mc Donald , Anton Nel , Rita Reichman , Margaret Hair , Avedis Kuyumdjan , Xin Wang,..
In 2011, Quang made an outstanding achievement, winning 1st prize at the Lev Vlassenko competition of Australia (the most prestigious piano contest of the continent) along with 4 additional prizes of his exceptional performances(Brisbane, Australia). Some other prizes include: 1st prize of Kawai piano award competition in Sydney Australia, 2nd prize at the Oleggio international piano competition in Italy, 2nd prize at the Euregio piano award international competition in Germany, 2nd prize at the 2008 Valtidone international piano competition in Italy, 3rd prize at the Hanoi international piano competition in Vietnam. Excellent prize at the Chopin Asia international piano competition in Japan, winner of the Emerging artists concert series by Theme and Variations Steinway piano of Australia… He was also the recipient of many full schorlaships from international music festivals in Kirishima – Japan, Pablo Casals in France, Sydney international piano masterclasses .
Quang has also performed with Queensland Symphony Orchestra of Australia, Royal Philharmonic concert orchestra of England, Orchestra from Florence of Italy, Vietnam national symphony orchestra, Hanoi Philharmonic Orchestra , Vietnam national Opera and ballet orchestra, Wuhan philharmonic symphony orchestra, Metropolitan orchestra of Australia, Woollarah Philharmonic Orchestras with many famous conductors : Edvard Tchivzhel, Anthony Weeden, Lorenzo Skanderburg, Honna Tetsuji, Stefano Vignati, Sarah-Grace Williams, John Curro.
He has been giving concert tours in Australia, Vietnam, Japan, Europe, China, Malaysia, America,.. Particularly from 2014 to present Quang gave many concerts with great successes in the Southern cities of France and since then they had been cultural and dearing places for Quang to come back every time each year during his concert tours.
In 2013 he had the honor of being the 1st Vietnamese young pianist to perform duet with master pianist Dang Thai Son. Quang released his first CD recording in 2012 and DVD recording in 2017 under Master Performers label , his performance in Australia is also featured by ABC classics. With his awards and contributions to the arts in Vietnam, he was awarded the Labour Medal 3rd class from the Prime minister of Vietnam.
Quang is now in the piano faculty of Academy of music and performing arts in Sydney, Australia teaching undergraduate students and teaching artist of Australia piano world organization of Australia, his students have gained many international piano prizes.
