The entire wealth and colourful variety of village life resounds in ‘Rustiques’, a collection of music rich in harmonic colouring and undulating rhythms. The vibrant constellation of four woodwind instruments, so beautifully evokes pastoral fields and lazy summer breezes, spritely gigues and rêveries of the French countryside, and the youthful rondos and peasants dances of Eastern Europe. Highlighting the contrasts in musical styles of the cultures it moves through, and brimming with influences from around the globe, ‘Rustiques’ promises half an hour of works that are robust in flavour and unapologetically cheerful in disposition.
We are four young professionals, friends and colleagues, who enjoy playing chamber music together. Our ensemble comprises of musicians based both locally as well as interstate, connected through tertiary studies, orchestral work, world travels, chance encounters and long-standing friendships. We are united by both our personal connections and a collective musical spirit.
